Welcome to JointLib. By accessing and using the platform you agree to the terms below. Please read them carefully — in particular section 6, on public tools and forking.
CONTENTS
1.Purpose of the platform
JointLib is a web platform providing structural calculation tools to the Eurocodes, automations for modelling and drafting (Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD) and an environment in which users can create, publish and share their own tools and workflows. The services are intended to support engineering work, not to replace the professional judgement of the engineer.
2.User account
- Certain features require an account to be created, with confirmation of the e-mail address.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all actions carried out from your account. We recommend enabling two-factor authentication (2FA).
- You must provide accurate information and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
3.Acceptable use
You undertake not to:
- use the platform for unlawful purposes or in ways that infringe the rights of others;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access, disrupt the service or circumvent security measures;
- upload malicious or unlawful content, or content that infringes intellectual property rights;
- abusively overload the platform's resources (including the AI features) through uncontrolled automation.
4.Your content
You retain the rights to the tools, workflows, data and texts you create or upload ("Your content"). By using the platform you grant us a limited licence, technically necessary, to store, process and display Your content for the purpose of providing the service. You are responsible for the lawfulness and accuracy of Your content.
5.Tools & automations
You can create tools and workflows, including with the help of the AI features. Every tool has a visibility that you control:
- Private — visible only to you (the default for tools you create);
- Public — visible to and usable by the other users of the platform.
Public tools may be listed in the public catalogue and, if the fork option remains enabled, may be cloned by other users (see section 6).
6.Public tools & forking
The platform allows other users to "fork" a tool or workflow — that is, to create their own copy, which they may subsequently modify — when two conditions are met simultaneously at the moment of cloning:
- the tool has its visibility set to Public; and
- the "allow fork" option (
AllowFork) is enabled.
⚠️ Important — read before publishing
If you set a tool as public (with forking allowed), other users can fork it, that is, they can clone it with minor modifications into their own account. Such a copy becomes an independent tool of the user who forked it.
These copies remain with those users even if you later switch the original tool to private or delete it. Switching to private stops future forks, but it does not revoke or withdraw copies already created before that moment. Therefore, publish a tool only if you accept that it may be copied and reused in this way.
When you fork a public tool:
- the copy is created as private in your account and keeps a reference to the original tool it derives from;
- you are responsible for the modifications you make and for the use of your copy;
- you must respect any attribution notices and the rights of the original author.
By publishing a tool with forking allowed, you grant the other users the non-exclusive right to clone and adapt it within the platform, under the conditions above.
7.Limitation of engineering liability
The results provided by the JointLib tools — including those generated with AI or through forking — are indicative and supporting in nature. They do not replace the verification and the responsibility of a chartered engineer. The user is solely responsible for:
- validating the input data and the design assumptions;
- independently verifying the results before using them in real projects;
- final compliance with the applicable codes, standards and regulations.
The platform is provided "as is", without warranties as to the absence of errors. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from the use of the tools, including those created or modified by other users.
8.Intellectual property
The brand, design, code and original content of the JointLib platform belong to its author. You may not copy, resell or redistribute the platform outside the features made available (such as forking public tools) without written agreement.
9.Personal data
We process your data in accordance with the GDPR. What data we collect, for what purposes and on what legal bases, who we disclose it to and how long we keep it are described in the Privacy policy; cookies and storage technologies, in the Cookies policy. You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and portability of your data, as well as the right to object to processing.
10.Suspension & termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or that endangers the security or proper operation of the platform. You may stop using the service at any time and request the deletion of your account. Note that forks created by other users from your public tools may continue to exist under section 6.
11.Changes to the terms
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here, with the update date shown at the top. Continuing to use the platform after the changes are published means accepting them.
12.Governing law
These terms are governed by Romanian law and by the law of the European Union. Any disputes shall be settled amicably or, failing that, by the competent courts.
